A big pile of new promos

Posted by pr0fane in Reviews

I’ve gotten a pile of promos this week, and I’m planning to get most of them reviewed during the following days. Looks like a busy weekend…

The first review is finished, and it’s of the new compilation “G-Spot” (fnaaaar) from the Israeli progressive label Domo records. A teaser:

03. Natural Flow & Chromosome – Personal Visit [138 BPM]
Next up is a collaboration between Swedens Chromosome (who’s probably more well-known as part of Andromeda and Soul Surfer) and Natural Flow from Switzerland, the new progressive sideproject of Rumble Pack and Blue Vortex. Take away the 1 minute long intro with the corny sample about MDMA and you have another high quality track – Andromeda/Chromosomes touch seems most dominant, with lots of distinct, naive Andromeda-like melodies, and although it seems like I’ve heard it so many times before, it works like a charm.

A couple of updates

Posted by pr0fane in Parties, Reviews

This Saturday I played at a party in Bryggen, and it was fun to be back in Copenhagen again. I remember hearing Raider play some excellent tracks at the mainstage, while me and Krell had fun at the progressive stage – despite problems with the equipment. One of the cd-players, for instance, wouldn’t read half of my CD’s (all originals).

Anyways, I just finished another review today, this time of the new compilation from Germanys most famous progressive label, Plusquam. A teaser:

03. FREq – Sunglider [138 BPM]
Up next is FREq, another act currently living in Australia. After some mediocre releases, his productions are once again getting better and better, and while I prefer his slower productions around 130 BPM, “Sunglider” is one of my favourites of his faster productions. The sound is pretty much trademark-FREq, but it works so very well – overall this is a very uplifting and loveable track with very thematic sounds, that is bound to be played outdoors at the major festivals. Can’t wait for his new album.

Tomorrow: Copenhagen

Posted by pr0fane in Parties

Ah, finally weekend again. Last weekends Electrobeat.dk party in Århus turned out pretty good – Funplastica provided the best deco I’ve seen at a Danish party in years, and the music was generally very good – the party was a bit too crowded though, which had a big impact on the atmosphere.

Electrobeat.dk already announced their next party, and it’s approximately one year from now, the 7th of February 2007 – once again in Århus, but this time at the bigger venue Turbinehallen. The main act at that party will be no less than the magnificent Jaïa – definitely one of the most legendary acts when it comes to melodic psytrance, and his liveact is truly stunning. I heard him play at VooV in 2005, and it was without a doubt one of the best sets I’ve ever experienced. Mark your calendar!

In other news I am playing in Copenhagen tomorrow at Bryggen. Among others, Xerox & Illumination, Ultravoice and Genetic Spin will be playing at the main stage, while I’ll play a 2 hour progressive set at the alternative stage.
